Call An HVAC Repair Tech To Fix Your AC ASAP

Your AC may be necessary for you to make it through summer. If you just don't handle the heat well, you need an HVAC service technician to visit your house when your air conditioner decides it doesn't like working in the heat. The service tech may not be able to get to your home quickly to do the repairs, which means you must deal with a non-functional AC and a hot house. What can you do while you are waiting?

Troubleshoot

One thing you can do is do some troubleshooting. That way, you can tell the tech what you have tried and what didn't work. You can go to your thermostat, make sure that it's set to AC, and see if you can get your AC to work. To do that, you need to turn your AC down as low as it can go. Hopefully, that will get your AC to turn on. If that doesn't work, there are other things you can try. You can also check the circuit breaker to see if all the breakers are turned on. If there is one turned off, try turning it back on. That might get your AC back on. If the breaker immediately turns off, leave it off until the HVAC tech can get there. If all your breakers are on, you can also try turning off the breaker that your AC is on because sometimes turning the breaker off and on will reset the unit.

Cover the Windows

You want to limit as much heat getting into your house as you can. One way to do that is to cover your windows up. You don't need to cover them all up but block as many windows on the sunny side of your house as possible. Keeping those windows covered up will help to keep the sun from shining into your home and warming it up. This won't keep your house miraculously cool, but it can help. If you combine this with only opening your windows when it is cool outside and closing them during the day, you should stay somewhere in the comfortable range.

When your AC stops working, you want it to start working again soon. Call an AC repair company to see how quickly they can send someone to your house. You can do a few things while you are waiting to stay cool and see if you can get your AC running again.
